Why Journalism?
Pursuing journalism was a career choice that started with graphic design work at creative sta non-profit organizations that saw the need for innovative ways to provide conversation spaces, messaging and stories for communities of color. My interest in journalism originated with growing up watching the news with my parents and developing their English speaking while they taught me Spanish through their reactions to the events we experienced as a Puerto-Rican/Nicaraguan family in Camden, NJ through the late 90's & early 00's.
What is the very thing that fuels your soul while creating?
What fuels my soul when working on a project is finding creative solutions to constraints whether it's a design challenge to include elements creators are asking for and/or a marketing challenge that requires better rollouts than previously seen before.
Advice for other creatives?
My advice for other creatives is to find a purpose within your craft that can provide solutions to people. Whether it's a musical message or clothing that raises confidence, there is always opportunity for deeper human connection with what you create.
